GARAGE MAGAZINE LAUNCH 2011at Gagosian Gallery, London
GARAGE Magazine was launched in 2011 by editor-in-chief Dasha Zhukova, taking its name and spirit from the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow – the groundbreaking international art institution founded in 2008. Since its inception, GARAGE Magazine has initiated an array of global artistic dialogues. Among the contributors to have created content for the magazine are Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Nick Knight, Marc Jacobs and Patrick Demarchelier. Issue no.1 was launched at the Gagosian Gallery in London with three exclusive covers options. Dinos Chapman and renowned fashion photographer Nick Knight created a puppet doll of fashion model Lily Donaldson playing with a dolls house inhabited by a puppet of Lily Donaldson, while Richard Prince's cover is a sketch of his cartoon smiling face tattoo. The third cover featured an iconic Damien Hirst butterfly, which was photographed by Hedi Slimane.
